Visiting ‘Help’ Village in Sri Lanka

Smiling kindergarteners and satisfied families greeted them when they arrived in this small village maintained by the ‘Fogadj örökbe’ Program (“Adopt Me” Program). From morning until noon at the main building of the village, 25-30 kindergarteners are educated, and in the afternoon school children from the neighboring areas participate in different programs such as computer handling or karate. Because donations go directly to the village, 300 children benefit from participating in different programs.

Next to the main building, seven families live in houses, built in a semicircle. These families moved into this building after the destruction of the tsunami in 2004. They still struggle with daily difficulties, but are able to live and raise their children with joyful hearts. During this time, the children of many families have finished their secondary school studies. In the picture above, the young man on the left will start the university this year and would like to become a bank officer. His sister (standing in front) was adopted by their family when she became an orphan after the disaster of tsunami. Her new parents are very proud of her as she is an excellent student in a nearby elementary school.
